Participants will learn about and discuss: 

  1. The ethical, legal, and pragmatic issues in obtaining consent from/for people with ID.
  2. The ethics of decision making for people with ID.
  3. The MD Health Care Decisions Act.
  4. A framework for decision-making capacity.
  5. Practical strategies for supporting people with ID to give informed consent when possible.
